The behaviors I expect from students are:

Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Safe

  • To be on time

  • To listen when others talk

  • To be responsible of their assignments

  • To work as a team and build a positive community

  • To keep the studio clean

  • To follow directions and ask for help when something
    is not clear

A Bit About Me

My name is Jessica Sanmarti and I was borned and raised in LA and am of Peruvian descent. I am an animal lover, movie enthusiast, Sci-Fi lover, Dragon Ball Z junkie, a big fan of anything Disney including Marvel and Star Wars, and an even bigger fan of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. In other words, I have a true passion for geek fandom and I am not afraid to express it. It is because of all of these worlds that I have developed an aspiration to push boundaries and be able to reach my goals. I wish to show this same desire of fearlessness and vigor to all learners. I double majored and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance Choreography and Performance with an emphasis in Business Management from the University of California, Irvine. My passion has led me to perform with multiple choreographers based in LA and the OC.

I love to dance and I know I love to teach. I did not know I loved to teach until I started teaching swim lessons at a community college summer program. As I delved more into this world I discovered this passion that I didn’t realize was there. Though each day presented its unique challenges I found myself inspired by witnessing the progression of what a dedicated body, mind, and the power of perseverance can do at any age. My resolution, cultivated from personal experiences and fellow colleagues, is that the feeling of accomplishment—be it from getting better, pushing, or being pushed by an instructor—is a profound support that has helped me and many others. I appreciate the process and have been taught that when you put in the work, great things can happen. However, if you fail, it’s okay; the experience in itself is an opportunity to grow.

I want to teach because of that extraordinary feeling when you know you have truly inspired and motivated kids to be their best. I have so much to give back due to my mentors, education, and experiences.

It is through this process I decided to take the next step in pursuing a teaching credential in Dance at CSU East Bay.

Everyone has the capability to learn and practice. Knowledge is meant to be shared. Passion is the key to pushing past limits and establishing new boundaries that promote growth.
